He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in circuits and systems from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2000 and 2006, respectively. Since 2006, he has been working for the CMRI. Now he is leading the 6G R&D of China Mobile. He has led the 5G activities of China Mobile since 2014, including standardization, industrialization and commercialization. He has also led the world first 3D-MIMO commercialization in 2.6GHz TD-LTE with 128 antennas. He was granted an outstanding winner special award of national science and technology innovation by Chinese government in 2017 due to his distinguished contribution on TD-LTE.
Vision and requirements of mobile network toward 2020
Abstract: As a mobile communication system for 2030+, 6G will further create a brand-new technology ecology through a brand-new architecture, brand-new capabilities, and in combination with the new needs and new scenarios of social development, so as to promote the society to move towards a “digital twin” world which combines the virtual reality and reality, and to realize the goal of “6G rebuild a new world”. This presentation predicts and discusses the overall vision and new application scenarios for the development of mobile communications after 2030. Based on the prospect of new services and applications in the future, the initial requirements for 6G network performance indicators are refined and the potential technologies are identified for fulfilment of the new requirenements. Based on the experience of 5G development and latest progress on ICDT, five network features, namely, on-demand fulfillment, lite, soft, native AI and native security are proposed for 6G network. Finally, the roadmap of 6G’s technology work is also predicted.
